ANNOUNCEMENT

For 30 years I have been helping organisations and individuals with their Barcode and Auto ID issues but now I have decided it is time to move on and retire from being the Barcode Man.

I will continue to respond to emails from existing customers about their earlier purchases, their special programming configurations and warranty issues but I regret I cannot help with new purchases or issues nor recommend alternative products or sources.

Voyager Voyager

More pictures of the Voyager

Available in black or pale grey the Voyager is a dual action 'Hand Held' or 'Hands Free' laser scanner. It is a stylish, lightweight and fully automatic scanner designed for easy barcode reading. Typical use would be in a retail store where hands free scanning is often needed - for example scanning garment tags.

The Voyager senses when it is in the stand and automatically configures itself for hands free use. It has a proximity sensor which auto switches the laser beam when a barcode is bought into range eliminating the need for a trigger witch. Simply lift from the stand for conventional hand scanning - no reconfiguration is necessary.

A safe, low power laser beam is emitted from the scanner towards the barcode. The beam is swept from side to side 72 times each second and appears like a single bright red line of light. If the line passes across a barcode it will be instantly identified and decoded. The MS9540 model has a unique system enabling a single barcode to be picked out if the codes are stacked closely together. Metrologic call this their 'CodeGate' system.

The scanner includes a special (programmable) timeout mechanism that prevents duplicate reads of the same barcode. After a period of inactivity the laser automatically switches off and the scanner enters stand-by mode in order to reduce power consumption.

The scanner is maintenance free and sealed against dust and airborne contaminates. It requires only an occasional cleaning of the window.

A successful read is indicated by an adjustable tone and indicator LEDs. The LEDs are mounted on the back of the scanner and are visible during hand-held use or on the stand.

The Voyager is a low priced fully specified laser scanner designed for easy hand-held or hands-free barcode scanning.

Power consumption is less than 1 watt even when the Laser is running. The exceptionally low power consumption and consequential minimal temperature rise contribute to its exceptional reliability and long trouble free life.

The Voyager supersedes the very popular MS900 and MS951 models. It does everything those scanners did and more.

Barcode Man

The Voyager is a popular full featured stylish laser scanner, perfect for upmarket retail use - I like it.

I am often asked “what is the Codegate feature and why would I need it? ”

CodeGate is just a fancy name for a special button on the back of the scanner. When the laser lines up with the barcode you press the button and the scanner zaps just that single barcode. In contrast the non Codegate version scans the first barcode it sees.

If you have ever tried to pick out a single barcode on a sheet of closely printed codes you will realise just how useful that can be. If you never have to navigate closely printed multiple barcodes then you may not need Codegate.

Still unsure if you will ever need Codegate? Well the CodeGate switch can be disabled. The scanner then acts exactly like the non Codegate version. So the Codegate version can do both jobs. Its your decision!
